Moore Blocked, Again

Michael Moore, author of Stupid White Men, has had his latest film (Fahrenheit 9/11) blocked by Disney. For some reason I'm not totally surprised by this: Disney isn't exactly the world's most liberal and experimental company. Well, it's being shown at Cannes so hopefully either Disney cave in, or someone will take it from them. If all else fails I'm sure someone will get a screener at Cannes...

Hopefully it will be just as full of half-truths, misrepresentations and out-and-out lies as Bowling for Columbine. I haven't laughed as hard as when I watched that film for a long time.

The "Bowling for truth" website is pretty good, you should check it out.

Please Ross do a little research, don't believe everything you here(or anything you here from Mr.Moore).

Mr.Moore said twice as many Americans are killed by firearms in the USA than Canada. If you look at the populations of both countries you are far safer and LESS likely to be killed by a firearm in the USA. And by the way, i own exactly ZERO firearms so don't confuse me with an NRA zealot.

Hmmm interesting. Being a niave Brit who is quite happy to believe most things about Americans and thier use of large firearms (generally on each other), this comes as an intersting comment. So what exactly were the mistruths in bowling? I'm sure I could scour the web myself, but I'm just being lazy.

Oh - what's the 9/11 film about anyway?

I always though minnie mouse was a bit of a slut myself :-)

http://www.bowlingfortruth.com/ and http://www.moorewatch.com are the main anti-Moore sites.

Amusing entries are easy to find, and are typical of the raving-right (whereas Moore is of course raving-left).

Stephen, why should nobody listen to what Moore has to say? Comments of the type "[don't believe anything you hear] from Person-X" really irritate me. If Person X's comments truly are idiotic,  you need to give his listeners the benefit of the doubt to come to that realization on their own. A healthy democracy can't survive without an ongoing dialog between it's citizens.

I thought Bowling for Columbine was interesting, and something they should show in schools. Biased in certain respects (especially against the NRA), but who the hell isn't biased? Anyhow let people make their own fucking decisions please -- as to whether to buy it or watch it -- instead of trying to block distribution of the movie. It really, makes us look idiots who can't take criticism.
