Ewan and Charley Hoaxed
Last night in the excellent Long Way Down, Ewan and Charley crossed the equator and were shown how water spins in different directions as it pours out of a bowl either side of the equator. Remember everyone, this is an urban legend, and the demonstration was faked.

Well, I have noticed a difference when flushing toilets in the USA and Australia.
In the USA the water does spin as it gets flushed. In Australian toilets the water doesn't spin at all. This is due to different toilet designs though (it doesn't feel like you're shitting in a lake with Australian toilets ...).
