Language

So Bastien has aquired a Scottish accent from reading Irvine Welsh. I hope the same doesn't happen for me -- I'm currently reading The Adventure of English and if I start speaking in Old English I'll get some very odd looks...

...but luckely there will still be a few of us who understand you :-) Old English is mostly Saxon mixed with some Jutish; two languages I had to learn in order to communicate - the first being the language often used on the other side of the border and the latter being my mother tongue.

How is the book? Is it thrustworthy?

The book is very interesting -- easy to read and it seems very well researched.

Vicky is also reading a book on the history on English by Bill Bryson, which is a little more light-hearted.  I'm reading that next so I'll be able to compare and contrast.
