There are many printing shops that allow you to send your pictures as files and return the printed photos to you by mail. Are there any shops that allow you to send pictures of keys and then send you freshly cut keys by mail? Just wondering...

That's probably possible with a good enough source image, if you know the right people. Luckily for me you don't know where I'm moving too...

I was thinking the same.
In fact, since keys can be reduced to simple number combinations (I think the above key has five digits), someone with a little experience would be able to make a duplicate just from a quick glance at the key, without the aid of a photo.
In short, get your locks changed.

Some keys have special features on the back side (extra bumps and holes - I don't know the technical term for these) that make them harder to copy.
However, if the two keys visible on that picture are two copies of the same key, then it is very nice of you Ross to show us both sides of the key. This key looks easy to forge. Thanks!

Note to self: look twice before posting a silly comment. The two keys do not have the same pattern, so they cannot be two copies of the same key.

Wow, I never thought the various Planets are so malicious. ;) I'll check my logs later to see what planet you are all from!
Those are different keys by the way.

For what it's worth, I saw your post both from planet.gnome.org and planet.debian.net (I read both, although I read p.g.o more frequently). So these are malicious planets and you should never have a look at them again.

Hey Ross, congrats!
I won't talk about making key duplicates... but, are you sure it is "all yours"... I'd ask what your bank thinks about that ;)
