Book Database
I was about to quickly catalogue the books and DVDs we got for Christmas, but after a 30-second Google I can't find an online book database. If I wanted to provide links to movies I'd use the wonderful Internet Movie Database, does anyone know a database for fiction and non-fiction books?

duh! amazon/barnes and noble etc.
there are millions of books that have come and gone, but these sites will have basically every book that can be bought and sold. they will have ISBN which is crucial for further searching.
other choices - library of congress, major university library search systems (if you can get access), major metropolitan area city libraries book search (NYC, etc)
not sure exactly what universities have the largest collections, but i know the ivies are all near the top and i believe harvard has the largest collection in the world in terms of pre number of volumes.

The bookbase project has been idle for quite sometime. I've only done some hacking on it in the past but I'm thinking about working on a GTK2 port and adding features like an online lookup of book information based on ISBN.
