Furious Anger, Part Two

Thursday 23rd March:

DAYLIGHT ROBBERY

Friday 30th March:

NHS CUTS

In the space of seven short days, they've managed to go from hard-line right-wing, give us tax cuts, don't "throw it away" on the state; to full-on fund the NHS more "Daily Express Crusade" your childen are All Going To Die.

If these headlines were in The Onion they'd be a fine example of tabloid spin and use of language. But they are serious, and I hate this paper.

Ps. Ross, just stop reading it then!

The scouse managed to give up reading the Sun, I'm sure you can wean yourself from reading the express.

Surely though, you are right, it is a pos. But I don't read much newspapers. They're so much behind the times now we have RSS.

I love how they occasionaly 'crusade' against our shocking obese children epidemic, then give away free chocolates with every copy of the express!

Not necesarilly newspaper hipocrisy, since the concept of socialised medicine seems to have (by nature of its populist appeal) transcended normal partisan notions of what constitutes state spending.

The only exceptions to wasteful state spending, in the eyes of the Mail/Express are the NHS, and any retrospective spending that could have prevented a tragedy.

(I remember after one terrorist litter-bin bomb killed a bunch of kids in the 90s, one of those two papers ran a front page retrospectively claiming that the government were at fault for not installing, at astronomical expense, "bomb-proof" bins right accross the country.)

"TERROR GANG IN PLOT TO BUY NUCLEAR WEAPON- ONLY 30p"

Bargain. I bet it was a rubbish nuke for that money, though. Probably made from one of those sources they use to demonstrate radiation in schools.

"socialised medicine"? Do you talk about the "socialised military"?
