Icon Request...

I'm just finishing off a 0.1 release of Tasks, a minimal To Do application for GNOME (yes, it's another EDS frontend). However, I don't have a rocking icon and can't seem to find one in the GNOME or Tango icon theme. Does anyone know of a cool icon I could use, or does anyone out there fancy flexing their drawing muscles and knocking up a quick icon?

Oh fab, thanks.

I would love to see a GTD derived, web enabled TODO application. That would be cool.

Btw., are you aware of gtodo? (It's in Ubuntu's repositories.)

Sounds like you want http://tracks.tra.in/.

I explicitly don't want a web-based service. :)

Yes, I am aware of gtodo.  It's unmaintained and doesn't use EDS, which are two of my requirements.

Knipknap: Have you looked at TaskStep?

It does the things you seem to want.It is easy to setup as well.

How about something like this:

Note that this is a rough start and would need lots of refinement. It's based on the edit-paste icon from the tango-icon-theme, and so would have to follow the CC license.

Ross: I currently use Tracks. It's quite nice (except it's slow), but a GNOME UI would be even better.

Sam: Thanks, I did not know this one, it looks promising. I will try it out in the next couple of days.

This is the same metaphor as Steven's, but GPLed and in all sizes.

Any change of Tasks having a port to Maemo? [hint, hint :)]

Wow!  I've been thinking "One day, I need to write a task manager for Gnome that uses EDS".  Looks like now I don't have to!  (Although I'd be glad to hack on it.)  Thanks, Ross.

Ross,

If this app follows in the tradition of apps like Dates and Contacts, and makes its way to Maemo, you will be my hero of the decade.

I can almost sense the satisfaction now, of finally ditching this goddamn Palm device for a sexy N800.  Thanks man!

Ah, this sounds great Ross! Like Adam, I had been thinking about working on the same thing - indeed, I asked you about eds-dbus with the aim of hacking this up with python but it was all a bit much for me! Look forward to it.

You'll all be glad to know that I've had multiple implementations of the main window be a core goal.

I plan on writing a desktop interface, a handheld interface, and a Maemo interface.

Steven, Jakub: thanks!  I liked Steven's concept and Jakub's icons look good at a small size too.  I've integrated it into svn, cheers.

Ross, I think you should ask someone to help redesigning the GNOME Dictionary icon. Its look is glossy and not match the whole g-i-t or Tango icons.

I did up a comp logo as a design challenge for myself:

If you like it, feel free to use it.  If not, please feel post to send any criticisms you have--I'm still a student.

Mike -- the design is neat but that logo doesn't really fit with the GNOME desktop.  The Tango guidelines emphasis no backgrounds and fairly subtle colours.

Aha!  I should've looked up the Tango guidelines beforehand.  They were very helpful for palette and other properties.  Here's another crack at it, more in line with Tango:

Hey, is it possible for you to make an icon that says Camp Burgess/Hayward in pink and Red Army(in red) Blue Navy(in blue)
