i'll ask just for curiosity: when will sound-juicer offer choice for audio quality of ripped tracks?

there has been a "coming soon" text for a while already :)

Same as Stephane, breaks on:

cd-drive.c: In function `get_hal_context':
cd-drive.c:99: warning: missing initializer
cd-drive.c:99: warning: (near initialization for `hal_functions.device_condition')

I'll do a new release soon, but there is a patch on that bug report now which fixes the problem.

You have musicbrainz integration?  Cool!  Time to check out the new release :)

Hi,

I'm using 0.5.15 on Debian unstable. When I first ran Sound Juicer I went to preferences and selected mp3 as the Track Format. I got an error telling me that a plugin wasn't available, or something like that, and the mp3 radio button was greyed out. I have since then run gst-register-0.8 as I saw a note about this on another site, but the option to mp3 encode is still greyed out.

Is there a way to reset this setting?

Regards,

Cliff.

Me too, I wait for the quality selection to be integrated... Don't like ripping my mp3 at 128...

A bit of a lame question. Changelog for 0.5.13 indicated the MusicBrainz server could be changed. How? I don't see anything like this in the Preferences. Also, how do I configure in support for a proxy server?
Posted by Ross at Sat Jan 8 21:22:00 2005:
Ghengis -- the MB server is a GConf preference, for the proxy server I think that isn't possible at the moment.

Figured out the proxy server stuff. As a mostly KDE user, never thought to look at GNOME configuration...

gconftool-2 -s /system/http_proxy

Thanks for a great tool. Keep up the good work!

To have MP3 ripping for sound-juicer on debian, you need the gstreamer-lame package.  I have built debian packages for gstreamer0.6 and gstreamer0.8, fetch them from http://henrik.synth.no/deb/

Hi,

Filename encoding still fails. I use Fedora Core2 with UTF8 locale, while ripping music CD with song in Cyrillic (CP866) I get unredable filename.

What line shall I fix in Sound Jucier v0.5.15?

Vlad: you need a newer GLib.
Posted by Vlad at Fri Mar 4 12:10:54 2005:
Ross:

what version?
I use Fedora Core 2
glib: Version: 1:1.2.10-12.1.1
Posted by Ross at Fri Mar 4 12:17:10 2005:
glib2, I use 2.6.3 but you'll probably need 2.4.9 or later.

I just want to fix
sound-juicer-0.5.15 to make support cyrillic titles
for Russian CDs. music cddb return titles in CP-1251, not in UTF-8. I want to fix it and rebuild package.
Posted by Ross at Fri Mar 4 12:26:09 2005:
MusicBrainz should be returning all data in UTF-8, if someone has mis-encoded a song that is not something SJ can detect.
