GUADEC 2007 Pre-Call for Papers

I plan on announcing the GUADEC 2007 Call for Papers in the next day or so, so I want everyone to put their thinking caps on and consider giving a talk this summer. There are several topics I'd like to see a good set of talks on:

Integration:

- HAL-ification
- DBUS-ification
- Tango-ification (Especially bundled icons)
- GStreamer-ification + new higher level Multimedia API for GNOME applications (List/Select hardware multimedia devices using HAL, play/record a sound with GStreamer, ...)
- Integrate tools which feel "external" such as bluetooth utilities (gnome-vfs obex is a start) or whole gnome-media

Yeah, that all sounds like "standardize!" (and lots of work/time, but brings down complexity and improves ease of use/maintainability)

Future:

- Moving to composting has somehow "halted"? Get on! Add real transparency in panel and your applications, gdm etc.
- Integration and Improvement (Performance, Memory Requirements) ARE part of the future development
- GNOME 3.0 should be a topic in terms of next generation desktop. (fully composite aware, improved toolkits with GL support and seamless Audio/Video GUI integration, animated widgets, Apple Quartz stuff etc.) Basically things hard to code right now or which end up with duplicated efforts.
