Contacts 0.3

I've just released Contacts 0.3. This release doesn't have a lot of visible features, but the use of Glade was removed and we have more translations.

More importantly, it's also available for the Nokia N800! Grab your Application Catalogue installation lines from maemo.o-hand.com and install Dates and Contacts on your N800 today! Contacts doesn't yet have a Maemo port so it isn't totally integrated, but as both Contacts and the N800 addressbook use evolution-data-server, your contacts are shared.

just curious, why getting rid of glade? for performance reasons? maybe the n800 doesn't support it?

Any hope to have a N770 release ?

emmanuel: libglade isn't present on the 770 or the N800, so thats another dependency users had to pull in from maemo.org.  Also for an interface with a few buttons, it was overkill.

SF: yes, at some point.  I don't have a 770 SDK configured so can't do a build at the moment.

Thx, i'm waiting for contacts for a long time now.

I'm using dates and it does a very good job. I've tryed contacts on my desktop and i'm sure it'll be a great addition to the maemo platform.

Thx for your work

Hi!

I don't know where to post bugs about Contacts, so I do it here...

Ok, I'll explain what i think is a bug problem on Contacts.

I have several contact lists on Evolution (family, friends, work...) but Contacts just recognizes the default one (family).

I think the groups combobox should be populated with every contact list that the user has, so people organizing their contacts this way, has easy acces to them. Or just populate the Contacts list with every single contact in every contact list on evolution (sorry, too may "contacts")

I hope i've explained myself well...

Anyway, thanks for this little app!

PD: Skalpel, they're great! My favourite one, Sculpture.

bugzilla.openedhand.com is the place for Contacts and Dates bugs.

However, the groups dropdown is for the categories, not for multiple addressbooks.  We will add support for multiple addressbooks in the future though.

Its a shame the Evolution's implementation of groups is so bad, as its much easier to use than multiple address books. :)

If you want to continue using Contacts instead of Evolution, you can add all of the contacts in your Friends book to the Friends group and so on, then copy all of the contacts into a single addressbook.

And yes, Skalpel rock!

Yes, the way evolution handles groups on addressbook just sucks. I remember how outlook for macos8 did it, and was the i liked it, just like folders, very easy to understand, and sort.

Maybe someone will fix the horrible contacts manager of evolution...
